Michel Kennell


Michel Kennell joined Carpe Sono in 2012 as a mezzo-soprano and is one of the primary arrangers for the group. When not singing shimmering harmonies while directing comedic shade at her partner in crime, Joseph Zelada, she works alongside him as Assistant Music Director for the group. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Texas and is currently the choir director at the Lamar Middle School Fine Arts Academy in Austin, Tx. Her numerous honors include receiving all superior ratings for the Advanced Treble choir from Kealing Middle School at the University Interscholastic League Choir Contest and having the third highest amount of students in the Region 13 area placed in the Texas Music Educators Association Middle School Honor Choir in 2022. She also had the opportunity to sing with awarded choirs, including Grammy award-winning Conspirare, a Company of Voices, on their recordings of the American Choral Directors Association Prize-Winning compositions “Holding Our Breath” & “Call Across,” which premiered in 2021.
