We finally had the opportunity to get together as a group and have a half day retreat this past weekend!
We started out with having lunch at Juan In A Million, an incredible Mexican joint on the East side of Austin.
After lunch, we headed over to the Adventure House, an inexpensive but cool airbnb that we rented – it had plenty of space for the 6 of us, in addition to a full kitchen and several bedrooms that we could use in order to break out into sectionals.
One of Michel’s good friends, Christy, came in and helped us workshop and refine some of our newer material while we also dug deeper into many of our arrangements than we are normally able to.
We were also able to listen to an arrangement in progress that Lacey is in the process of creating, and provide feedback that hopefully will be able to help her complete it soon. The name of the arrangement? Well, you have to wait and find out!
We had a jam-packed itinerary with only 5 hours to do everything. No time for biking, kayaking, or Pitch Perfect viewing 😦 Needless to say, we need more time and most likely we will double our schedule from 5 hours to 8-10 hours.
Overall, it was a great time to hash out music and spend time as a group as we prepare for a busy second half of the year.
Here is a clip of us learning and practicing Break Free:
